Cross-Parking Guidelines
UTEP allows valid permit holders to park in certain zones outside their assigned lot after specific times in the afternoon and evening. Use this guide to find out where you can park based on your permit type and the time of day.

Cross-parking FAQs
Do I still need a permit to cross-park?
Yes. A valid UTEP permit is always required. Cross-parking is not free parking.
Can I park in a reserved or numbered space after hours?
No. Reserved spaces are enforced 24 hours a day, 7 days a week unless otherwise posted.
What if I arrive just before the cross-parking time begins?
Time rules are strictly enforced. If a zone opens at 3:00 pm, arriving at 2:55 pm is not permitted. Wait until the correct time or park in your designated lot.
What if there is a campus event?
Posted event signage always overrides standard cross-parking rules. Check signs before parking during events.
Can I park in an ADA space after hours?
No. ADA spaces are always restricted. You must have a valid state-issued ADA placard or plate and a valid UTEP permit.
Can I cross-park in a housing lot?
No. Housing (Purple) lots are reserved 24 hours a day, 7 days a week for the specific permit issued to that property.
