Nine UTEP Students Receive Prestigious Gilman Scholarship

Nine undergraduates have secured the opportunity to study abroad through the U.S. Department of State鈥檚 Benjamin A. Gilman International Scholarship, one of the nation鈥檚 most prestigious scholarship programs. The group constitutes the largest number of UTEP Gilman Scholars for the fall application cycle in nearly a decade.

Senior Wins National Entrepreneurship Competition

Arat Fraga in the Hunt College of Business has emerged as one of four national winners of the latest Blackstone LaunchPad Ideas Competition. Fraga's concept, a rapid test kit to measure fabric toxicity, secured him the top spot in the Consumer Products and Services Track category.

UTEP Professors Receive Award for Veteran Research

Husband-and-wife UTEP professors Emre Umucu, Ph.D., and Beatrice Lee, Ph.D., have earned a prestigious recognition from the American Counseling Association (ACA). The research award recognizes their work evaluating stress鈥檚 effect on the well-being of veterans with and without chronic conditions.

Send Off UTEP Choir Before Carnegie Hall Performance

The UTEP Choral Union and Symphony Orchestra will perform music by Mozart, Walton and Ewazen, as well as 鈥淟ux Aeterna鈥� by Morten Lauridsen. This performance is the Choral Union's last send-off concert before they sing at Carnegie Hall on March 17.
