$1.7 Million Gift from Hector and Gloria L贸pez Foundation to Benefit 15 L贸pez Scholars

The Hector and Gloria L贸pez Foundation announced its first grant 鈥� a $1.7 million gift to provide 15 Hispanic, first-generation college students with full scholarships to UTEP. L贸pez Scholars also will receive support for mentoring, tutoring, paid internships, leadership development and more, for up to five years.

Jorge Mu帽oz, an assistant professor of physics, and his undergraduate research team have spent two summers participating in the Sustainable Research Pathways (SRP) program 鈥� a partnership between the Sustainable Horizons Institute and Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory.

The Smithsonian Institution鈥檚 National Portrait Gallery acquired a portrait of President Emerita Diana Natalicio by Gaspar Enriquez (B.A. 鈥�70). The renowned artist, who received UTEP鈥檚 Distinguished Alumni Award in 2015, now has four portraits in the prestigious collection.

Temporary Changes to Cross Parking in Effect Through Aug. 15

The Office of Parking and Transportation Services implemented a special cross parking plan beginning July 8 through Aug. 15, 2022, for all current and valid parking permit holders. During this time, parking rules and regulations will continue to be enforced.

Financial Aid Fridays Workshop to Cover Failed Classes

The Office of Financial Aid will discuss how failed courses can impact financial aid in this online event at noon Friday, July 15.
